Here is a chronicle of some highlights from the first 10 years.
Falcon Analytical began as a distributor and subcontract manufacturer of gas chromatography equipment. But it wasn’t long before we recognized that there was a great need for a new and radically different form of gas chromatography.
So, we began to develop a new gas chromatograph design that would be much Faster, Smaller, Smarter, Easier and Greener than any GC design that had come before.
Falcon rolled out the ultrafast, ultra-user-friendly, highly durable, practical, reliable and economical CALIDUSTM Gas Chromatograph for commercial purchase.
The new CALIDUS GC was 10 to 50 times faster than traditional GCs with superior reproducibility and many other breakthrough benefits.

The first commercial CALIDUS customer was Dow Chemical followed shortly by Chevron. These leaders were quick to recognize the potential of Falcon’s new analyzer.
Falcon received the first of two patents for the CALIDUS GC. Falcon’s resistively heated stainless steel capillary column module was awarded the first patent. A second patent for Falcon’s modular GC design was awarded in 2013.
Today Falcon continues to invent. One provisional US patent is pending and two additional patents are in development.
The remarkable speed and reliability of the CALIDUS GC inspired Falcon to author a new ultrafast Simulated Distillation method. The new ASTM D7798 method could perform SimDis analysis in less than 5 minutes; 2-7 times faster than any version of the older D2887 method. D7798 is also 2-3 times more precise than D2887.
The D7798 method has been published since February 2015. CALIDUS is the only GC fully capable of running D7798.
Falcon began offering a more complete analytical package with the introduction of the PALARUSTM GC Autosampler. The advanced LSI autosampler offered many state-of-the-art features and benefits and was preconfigured to partner with the CALIDUS GC.
In 2015 Falcon earned the first of 15 International Market Entry Commendations from the Governor of the company’s home state, West Virginia.
Falcon enabled Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs service in the U.K. to boost fuel fraud detection efforts. Falcon’s CALIDUS MT GC was installed in a mobile fleet of 49 HMRC Road Fuel Testing Unit vehicles throughout the UK and used to quickly analyze fuel samples taken at the roadside and at retail premises.

Later in 2016 the HMRC application earned Falcon and partner Dow Chemical finalist recognition for the R&D 100 Award and the UK’s “IChemE” Award.
Also in 2016 the U.S. Secretary of Commerce presented Falcon Analytical with the President’s “E” Award for Exports. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.
And all along...A Chromatographic Code of Chivalry
“They just said ‘NO.” That is what we have heard from many customers who carried tough applications to other GC providers. Falcon has said “Yes” instead. We engineered a way to apply the CALIDUS GC to these tough applications.
These tough applications included acrylonitrile production, propylene oxide production, oligomers in propylene production, and water treatment chemical production, to name a few.
Now these customers can not only perform their applications but they can do so with the speed and performance only available with the CALIDUS GC.
In an era when self-service seems to dominate business ethics, Falcon stands out as a company that considers serving others a high priority, especially those who received no help from other sources.
But we admit this ethic serves us as well. If we can handle these tough applications just think how much we do for those whose applications are more common.
